Last weekend (January 17-19), several members of the WP Engine team made the trip to Arizona, for WordCamp Phoenix 2014.
The schedule was jam-packed, with a Friday Foundations day, 3 tracks of presentations on Saturday, and a more informal day on Sunday—including WordCamp for Kids.
WP Engine is proud to have been a Gold Sponsor of WordCamp Phoenix, which sold out with 750 attendees.
Our team had a great time meeting new people—and catching up with old friends—at the WP Engine booth. Thanks to everyone who took the time to come up and say hello!
Launch of DradCast 2.0
On Saturday, January 18 we were excited to announce the launch of DradCast 2.0, brought to you by WP Engine.
A couple of prior military geeks, a few adult beverages, and all things WordPress discussed.
The DradCast is a weekly video podcast, presented by Brad Williams and Dre Armeda. The DradCast primarily concentrates on the latest news around WordPress, upcoming WordPress events, and the wonderful community surrounding the premiere open source content management system on the Internet.
The DradCast will now be presented in partnership with Torque, which will provide editorial and production support.

Michelle Oznowicz, the editor of Torque, was there with her camera ready to cover the event.

WordPress and the Internet of Things
WP Engine’s Tomas Puig sparked an interesting discussion with the audience on WordPress and the Internet of Things during his WordCamp Phoenix presentation.
Tomas outlined many current and future applications of the Internet of Things, including Internet-enabled cows, spamming smart fridges, and networked fitness devices.
