Develop WordPress Sites For Free And Work More Efficiently With Transferable Installs And Billing Transfer

Crystal Hansen 4.30.2015

As a developer, your goal is to make slick and powerful websites for your clients and let your awesome work do the talking. You don’t want to deal with hosting invoices or chasing down your clients to pay for hosting services.

Simply put: you’re not a collections agent, and you don’t want to be one.

WP Engine’s transferable installs and billing transfer empower you to focus on your work while leaving the hassle of hosting costs and billing to us.

It works like this: transferable installs allow you to simultaneously develop and test an unrestricted number of client sites directly on the WP Engine managed WordPress hosting platform at no additional cost. And when a site is production-ready, you can transfer the completed site, wp-admin dashboard, and bill to your client’s WP Engine account, and we’ll invoice your client, not you. (And if your client doesn’t have a WP Engine account, we’ll walk them through setting one up.) Plus, you can maintain access to the transferred installs for continued collaboration and additional development.

Transferable installs and billing transfer are now available on the WP Engine managed WordPress hosting platform, which empowers you to quickly and reliably build and deploy WordPress sites that are secure, scalable, speedy, and backed by world-class service and support.

You no longer have to worry about billing your clients for hosting and infrastructure costs or get distracted by incurring additional charges during development. Rather, you can focus on building great sites—we’ll handle the rest.

You want to make websites, not be saddled with hosting invoices and added costs. WP Engine transferable installs and billing transfer let you get back to business.

Transferable installs and billing transfer are available now on all WP Engine plans. For more information, check out http://wpengine.com/bill-transfer/.

    Can we transfer existing installs?
How does commission work? Like Flywheel?
Will you be offering free migrations now like Flywheel?

    Thanks.

    Nice!

If the client is not a WPengine customer the transfer is basically referral.

So is the affiliate program active and applicable for these transfers ?

Yes, the affiliate program does apply to transferred installs!

In order to earn commissions for your transfers, you must:
    1) Have an existing affiliate account or register for our program.

    2) Once the billing transfer is complete, reach out to [email protected] and provide the required account information for verification.

We will then credit your affiliate account for your referral.

This is killer! We often build sites and charge our clients a few bucks to cover hosting, but it’s a pain in the butt. And there are times you just want a client out of your hair, but they won’t pay to migrate to their own hosting.

    Nice job, WPE!

Well done WP Engine, I believe this will be a good step when working with many clients.

What if our client is not a WPengine customer and not entirely sold on your service or price? Should we only develop in the transferable installs for clients who have agreed to the hosting price plan? What if they change their mind? Just wondering if this could delay launch or irritate a client.

    Thanks

This is amazing. I’m currently going through my second host infected with malware in the last 3 years.. The worst part is, I run a clean ship and update weekly.

I can’t keep up any more.

I’m insisting every one of my clients move to WP Engine immediately, and moving forward Transferable Installs sounds like the perfect contingency plan.

    Keep doing what you do!

I really like it it seems like you’re on something more like pantheon not flywheel 100% free unlimited developers
The client pays the bill for them to go live? Do I have it right ?

You don’t limit time or the amount installations like flywheel ?

    If so Bravo!!
