WordPressers, get ready, it’s time to nominate your favorite WordPress plugins to compete in Torque’s 2017 Plugin Madness, where we pit 64 WordPress plugins against each other in a bracket-style competition to compete for total plugin supremacy!
Go to torquemag.io/pluginmadness to nominate your favorite plugins for a chance to compete!
Plugins will be divided into four groups this year, representing the four different regions — Maintenance, Marketing, Optimization, and Editorial (we realize there may be some categorical overlap but try your best to nominate accordingly).
Please make sure your nominations meet the following criteria (we want to ensure that we are highlighting secure and well-maintained WordPress plugins):
- Listed in the official WordPress.org plugin repository
- Compatible with the latest version of WordPress
- 3-star plus rating
- 10,000+ active downloads
- Updated in the last six months
We will announce the lineup on February 28! And voting will open on Tuesday, March 7! Each round will last one week, so check in weekly or follow along on Twitter with #pluginmadness.
We’ll reveal the winner on Tuesday, April 18.
Here are the rounds and when voting for each begins:
- March 7: The Enchanting 64 (Round 1)
- March 14: The Thrilling 32 (Round 2)
- March 21: The Supreme 16 (Round 3)

Torque Plugin Madness is a bracket-style competition modeled after the NCAA college basketball tournament, affectionately known as March Madness. Plugins are the backbone of WordPress, providing users with easy integration with new features and functionality. The goal of Plugin Madness is to highlight some of these incredible plugins (and to have a ton of fun along the way).
Be sure to stay tuned to Torque, the WP Engine blog, and torquemag.io/PluginMadness for tournament news. You can also sign up to receive updates via email.
