As many of you have heard, Google (and others) recently announced their plans to deprecate SHA-1 certificates. Although this move may affect those with a SHA-1 certificate, WP Engine customers who purchased a certificate through us don’t need to take any action.
If you purchased a SHA-1 certificate through WP Engine, you will not be affected by the announcement. Once your cert expires, we will issue you a SHA-2 certificate, and all new certificates purchased through our user portal will be SHA-2 certificates. In other words, we have you covered!
If you purchased your certificate via a third party and not WP Engine, you need to contact your certificate provider. Depending on the length of time the certificate has been issued for, you may need to request that they re-issue or replace your certificate with a SHA-2 certificate. If you know you already have a SHA-2 certificate, you don’t need to do anything.
