There are several reasons why you may receive the following error:
This Connection is Untrusted / Certificate Error. You have asked to connect securely, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.”
The most common reason would be that you do not have an SSL certificate installed on your WP Engine account, but you are accessing your site over https.
If you do not have an SSL certificate installed on your account you may have one installed by following the instructions in our knowledge base.
If you already have an SSL certificate installed, you may see this error due to the following reasons:
- The domain is not covered by the SSL certificate.
- The CSR did not include the domain when it was generated.
- You are visiting your site from a browser that does not support Server Name Indication (SNI), like some old versions of Internet Explorer. These browsers are no longer supported by the company that made them, we suggest using an updated browser. If you are using an updated browser and still getting this error, please reach out to our support team so we can assist you.
