This article will assist you in changing your table prefix in the wp-config.php file in order to make your site run correctly on our system.
The table prefix may have been different on your old server for security reasons. The simple changes in this articles will help our system understand how to look at your imported database.
Log in via SFTP
Log into your WP Engine powered website using the SFTP credentials that you have setup. If you need assistance setting up SFTP credentials, check out our article “How do I add a new SFTP account”
Once logged in, find the wp-config.php file and open it in your favorite text editor.
Edit wp-config.php:
Once the file is opened in your text editor, towards the top, you will see this line:
$table_prefix = 'wp_';
Change this line to reflect your table prefix. For example, if your table prefix was wekw_, you would change the line of code to this:
$table_prefix = 'wekw_';
NOTE: Don’t forget the _ at the end of the prefix.
Save the file and you have now successfully changed the table prefix for your install.
